FAQs
FOR FAMILIES
Are your nannies and babysitters fully vetted?
ABSOLUTELY! Unlike many other nanny & babysitting services, we do the hard work for you and ALL of our nannies are interviewed and thoroughly vetted through an extensive process of qualification, background and reference checks before being considered for a position with our agency. Our Lovely Nannies have a formal childcare qualification and experience or at least two years paid experience working with children, as well as meeting these additional Australian Nanny Association requirements:
- Working with Children Check (WWCC) or QLD Blue Card;
- Current First Aid certification;
- Excellent English; and
- Impeccable references.
And importantly, our babysitters LOVE working with little people. We hear time and time again from our clients that our nannies are absolutely adored by their children. This is what we’re all about!
How fast are you able to find temporary or one-time assistance for me?
Once your booking has been made, we work super quickly for you and in most cases we are able to arrange for someone on the same day, and in some cases, within a few hours!
While we’ll make every effort to secure a sitter within the timeframe you provide, we ask for at least 4 hours notice and ideally giving us at least 3 days’ notice is optimal.
What if I make a booking and you do not have anyone available?
On the rare occasion that we do not have any nannies available on your requested day/time, we will refund your booking fee back to you.
How do I book a nanny or babysitter?
For temporary nanny care and once-off bookings, please complete our online booking form.
To book an evening babysitter, please complete our online booking form.
If you are looking for a permanent nanny to support your family on an ongoing basis for three months or more, please complete our permanent nanny enquiry form so that we can get to know your family and understand your needs. We’ll then take you through our personalised, obligation-free consultation to begin the process of finding a Lovely Nanny that will best fit your family.
How do you select your nannies?
All of our experienced nannies and babysitters go through a comprehensive recruitment and selection process before they are engaged by our agency. We meet face-to-face with every nanny or babysitter that applies to work with us and complete a thorough background check that examines their Working with Children Check or Blue Card (QLD), First Aid certification, qualifications and references.
Are there any upfront fees?
For temporary nanny or babysitter bookings the only fee payable to us is a booking fee. Please find the list of fees here.
Who pays the nanny?
For temporary nannies and evening babysitter bookings, you pay us a booking fee to arrange your carer and you pay your temporary nanny or babysitter directly by cash or bank transfer. The carers are self employed and responsible for their own tax affairs.
For permanent nanny placements, it’s your choice whether you pay your nanny directly or engage with a payroll service. We recommend NannyPay Payroll Services.
Can we claim the Child Care Benefit and/or the Child Care Rebate when we book a nanny through you?
Unfortunately, the Australian Government Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) does not apply to our nanny services.
How do I pay the nanny, in terms of increments if we are late back?
The nanny is to be paid in 15 minute increments if you come back later than your originally booked time.
If you are running late or would like the nanny to stay later, please check that she is able to stay late as she may not be able to.
Am I required to pay for all the hours I booked even if we come early?
Yes. Please bear in mind that our nannies agree to accept your job based upon the length of time you book them, and they count on the booked hours for their planning.
If you need to adjust the hours before the booking starts, feel free to let us know via the chat feature in our App and we’ll do our best to accommodate. If the nanny is not comfortable in reducing the hours then a new booking to source a new nanny will be required to be made.
Are your nannies able to take my children outside of the home or hotel?
Certainly, with your permission, our nannies are equipped to accompany your children on outings. It is great for your children to get out of the house or hotel room and our nannies can take them on adventures to parks, beaches, libraries, movie theaters, zoos and themeparks. Or they can simply take them on a walk or play outside. Please note, you are responsible for covering the cost of admission or any activity fees for both your children and the babysitter.
Am I able to make a booking if my child is sick?
Should your child be ill with a non-contagious condition, you are encouraged to proceed with making a reservation, provided that you inform us of your child’s illness and specify their symptoms. This information allows nannies and babysitters to decide whether they are willing to accept the assignment based on their personal preferences. Most nannies are happy to work if the child is suffering from a cold but this still needs to be disclosed on your booking form.
It is inappropriate to arrange for a nanny / babysitter without disclosing that your child is unwell. If the carer feels uneasy upon discovering the child’s illness because this information was not shared in advance, she may want to leave and you will be liable for the full shift charge.
If you have any doubts or questions, please contact our office prior to making a booking.
What if my temporary nanny or babysitter is sick and cancels?
Do not fear, if the carer we have arranged for you needs to cancel her booking, then we will do our best to find a replacement for you.
Am I able to choose my own temporary nanny or babysitter?
When you make a booking, we select a nanny for you based on the ages of your children and the location of the job. You’ll receive a profile that includes a summary from our agency, their qualifications, childcare experience, and a photo — so you know exactly who to expect.
At Little Lovelies, we take the stress out of finding the right care — because we’ve already done the hard work for you. Every nanny and babysitter in our network has been carefully vetted by our team. We personally interview each carer, check their references, confirm their qualifications, and ensure they meet our high standards.
Once you’ve had your first booking, you’re welcome to request any carers you’ve had before. If they’re available, we’ll be more than happy to arrange for them again.
It’s all about making care easy, thoughtful, and reliable — for you and your little ones.
