A loving and close-knit family based in Northcote, VIC is seeking an experienced and confident nanny to assist in the care of their two daughters, aged 8 and 10 years. The family values connection, creativity, and a balanced approach to routine and play, and they are looking for a nanny who will become a positive and engaging presence in their children’s daily lives.

This is a part-time, after-school position, working 3 days per week 

  • Monday: 2:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Tuesday: 2:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Wednesday: 2:00pm – 7:00pm (essential day)
  • Some flexibility on days, with potential for additional hours for the right candidate

The ideal nanny will be warm, kind, and genuinely enjoy spending time with school-aged children. They will also be confident in setting clear expectations, supporting homework routines, and encouraging responsibility in a calm and respectful manner.

A Typical Day

The role will begin with school pick-up, typically around 3:15pm, or later (around 4:15pm) on days when the children have after-school activities.
Once home, the children will have some time to relax and play, as they enjoy engaging with each other and their toys. The nanny will support with preparing snacks, gently encouraging homework completion, and assisting with the evening routine, including preparing and serving dinner around 6:00pm.
On Wednesdays, the nanny may be required to transport one of the children to soccer training between 5:30pm – 6:30pm.
The household maintains a no screens policy during the week, so the nanny will encourage creative play, conversation, and independent activities.
On some days one or both parents will be working from the home office and will assist with dinner preparation on these days.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide attentive care, following the children’s routines
  • School pick-ups and transport to activities as required-School pick up can be done via tram and gymnastics is within walking distance to home.
  • Engage the children in age-appropriate play and activities
  • Encourage and support homework completion
  • Prepare snacks and meals for the children (with guidance if required)
  • Assist with general tidying and light household tasks related to the children

 

About You

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience as a nanny or in childcare
  • Confident working with school-aged children
  • Warm, engaging, and able to build strong, positive relationships
  • Able to balance fun and play with structure and expectations
  • Strong communication skills and fluent English
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Non-smoker
  • Musical ability (a bonus, as the children learn flute and piano)
  • Pet-friendly (the family has a friendly cavoodle)
