A busy, professional family in Cammeray are seeking a calm and reliable nanny to care for their two children, aged 5 and 6, after school.
A nanny who can assist the parents to instil confidence, curiosity, caring, and self-reliance in the children.
The afternoons will involve picking the children up from their respective schools (both a short walk from the house), bringing them home, engaging in play and fun and educational activities, preparing dinner, supervising bath, and having the children dressed in pyjamas.
The family have two King Charles Cavalier puppies who will require minimal attending but who love tummy rubs.
The carer’s responsibilities for this role will be as follows –
- To care for the children
- Pick them up from their respective schools
- Play and engage with the children throughout the afternoon
- Cook light dinners (reheating mostly prepared meals)
- Assist with light household duties – general tidying up of the day’s activities, dishes in the dishwasher etc.
- Kindergarten book reading
- Activities and outings during the school holidays i.e. the museum, park etc.
Start date: ASAP
Contract: 6 months
(with possibility to extend with reduced hours)
Pay: $40 per hour
The days and normal hours are 2 – 5 days per week
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (optional) 5pm – 7pm
Thursday and Friday 3.30pm – 7pm
Flexible with some additional hours to walk dogs and assist with light housework if desired
Additional hours will be offered during school holidays
The family’s expectations from their nanny are –
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a nanny or working in childcare
- Have a current first aid certificate (or happy to obtain one)
- Have a current Working with Children Check
- Display strong communication skills and speak English
- Full drivers licence and clean driving record advantageous but not required
- Experience with gluten and dairy intolerances (both children) beneficial
- Non-smoker/vaper
