A young, hands-on family with two bright young girls (3.5 years and 1 year) are relocating to Sydney in July and are seeking a mature, experienced and calm nanny to join the ‘team’ of their family.

An ideal nanny will be mature, experienced and calm in nature.

 

The family is looking for someone who is a capable and organised to maintain the natural flow of the girls days, helping facilitate the smooth running of activities and routines, as well as creating space for play-based sensory learning in nature.

The family would like to engage a nanny who has an interest in following a child-led philosophy, practicing a positive approach to discipline and who has an interest in developing meaningful relationships with the children as individuals.

The family are very involved and thoughtful with the care and education of their children, and want someone collaborative to work in partnership with them.

Experience with the 0-3 age group and a childcare qualification would be preferred. There will be days where the care will only be for 1 child as the other attends preschool/day care.

Core responsibilities:

  • Care for the children’s needs and safety at all times
  • Observe the children’s needs in terms of nap schedules, health, emotional developments and respond with care
  • Maintain clear lines of communication with parents (ie weekly debrief meeting)
  • Be receptive to feedback + also have the professional confidence to give suggestions to family
  • Follow the weekly routine which will be clearly provided by the family – including pre-school, activities and social outings (play groups, parks, library, swimming etc)
  • Take an active and leading role engaging in developmentally appropriate educational opportunities (this does not involve ANY screen time with this family)
  • Ensure regular healthy mostly vegetarian food is prepared and provided as appropriate (this includes packing simple lunch-boxes)
  • Setting up appropriate and safe play spaces
  • Maintain a clean and organised home environment:
  • Tidying children’s bedrooms
  • Stacking & unstacking dishwasher
  • Sweeping and vacuuming
  •  Maintaining children’s clothes in wardrobe/ washing baskets

Additional responsibilities to the household:

  • Genuine friendliness and care toward the family’s golden retriever Ruby
  • Preparation of family dinner (ingredients and recipes provided by parents)
  • Taking clothes on and off the line

Start date: 26th July 2021

Contract length: 12 months – permanent long term (up to 3 years)

Pay: From $30-35 p/h depending on experience plus entitlements

Note: Drivers licence required – Family Automatic car is provided

The days and normal hours are –  4 days  – 44 hours

Four days per week – 11 hours (7am – 6pm)
Flexibility for the right candidate
Extra hours may be required from time to time

The family’s expectations from their nanny are –

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years nanny experience
  •  Childcare qualification (Preferred)
  • Experience looking after multiple children
  • To have a drivers licence and be a confident driver
  • Be able to swim
  • Have a current first aid certificate
  • Have a current working with children’s check number
  • Display strong communication skills
  • Fit, Active and Healthy
  • Skills in preparing healthy, whole-food mainly vegetarian food is essential. Some basic prep to help with dinners will also be desirable.
