10 family-friendly activities and adventures to do in Byron Bay this Easter holidays

Fun! Kids Activities
  1. Visit The Farm at Byron Bay and let the kids explore and run wild. There’s an incredible playground, pig pens, chickens roaming free, cows in the paddocks, Flow beehives, a macadamia orchard where the kids can crack their own nuts and plenty of grass for cartwheels and a good old-fashioned game of tiggy. Cool off with a gelato from Baylato or treat the kids to a doughnut or Portuguese custard tart from The Bread Social.
  2. Hire a soft top surfboard from Byron Mobile Board Hire and push your kids onto some sliders at Byron Bay’s famous point, The Pass. Better still, book a couple of lessons through Byron Bay Surf School and get the whole family out on the waves having a go.
  3. Pull on your running shoes; pack your water bottles; slip, slop, slap; and take on Byron Bay’s iconic Lighthouse walk. It’s sweaty work, but the view at the top is definitely worth it. If your kids are early risers, head up to the Cape Byron Lighthouse and be the first people in Australia to see the sunrise. You’ll find information on other activities at Cape Byron Lighthouse here.
  4. Ride on the Byron Solar Train, an immaculately restored 1949 era carriage heritage train, along a three kilometre coastal track that links the Byron Town Centre with the burgeoning North Beach precinct and Byron Arts Estate. The journey takes ten minutes one way of twenty five minutes return from North Beach Station. Relax on vintage lounge seats in the first class carriage or chat to fellow passengers in coach class as you pass through littoral rainforest, endangered coastal wetlands and over the stunning tea tree Belongil Creek, part of Cape Byron Marine Park.
  5. Visit the newly upgraded Railway Park at Byron’s Railway Square on Johnson Street opposite the Community Centre. The park has recently been installed with a fun new children’s playground and boardwalk through the Cottonwood trees. If your kids love a big slide, this park is a must-visit.
  6. Book a circus session at Circus Arts Byron Bay and watch your kids master their confidence. There’s a great range of circus programs for all ages – toddlers, kids and adults. The Byron venue offers a comprehensive timetable of activities during both the QLD and NSW school holidays including full and half day circus programs, flying trapeze, Ninja/Parkour kids classes, indoor climbing and kids play space.
  7. Just out of Byron Bay at Mullumbimby is the Crystal Castle and Shambhala Gardens – home of the biggest and most beautiful crystals in the world. You could easily spend a day exploring this magical sanctuary. Stand between two of the tallest crystals on earth, sit in an ancient amethyst cave and wander through the tranquil Shambhala Gardens and rainforest. The lucky dip bag of crystals from the onsite store are a firm favourite with kids of all ages.
  8. Another great spot just outside of Byron Bay is the Macadamia Castle where an animal fun park awaits. You can feed and pet many of the animals and learn all about our cuddly, feathered, slimy and scaly friends in their daily schedule of shows. There’s also a train ride and an onsite café famous for its fluffy pancake stacks.
  9. At Byron Bay’s little sister, Brunswick Heads, you can follow the magical Brunswick Heads Fairy Trail. A beautiful community initiative, you can pick up a Clue Sheet from the Brunswick Heads Information Centre and follow the clues to find all of the fairy houses tucked into locations around the hub of the town. The fairy houses are beautiful sculptures made of recycled and found objects and each fairy house is occupied by a fairy that carries a positive message about living simply, being kind, being loving, and protecting nature. If you only have time to visit one fairy house, make it the Post Office. You can have your children write letters to the Post Office fairy and leave them in her Post Box.
  10. You’ve given your little darlings a holiday to remember in Byron Bay, now it’s time to book a Little Lovelies Nanny for the day or Babysitter for the evening and treat yourselves to some adult time while the kids have a tonne of fun with their Lovely Carer. Book yourself a Kayak Adventure for the day or dinner at the renowned Bang Bang restaurant, finished with a cocktail at the uber-cool Mez Club.

Testimonals

Little Lovelies was absolutely wonderful in helping us find a nanny for our 6 month old twin girls to work with us on a permanent basis. Louise at the agency was a pleasure to work with and was so accommodating of us when our needs changed in the middle of our search. All the candidates were thoughtfully chosen, and we appreciated that the agency was so professional and proactive; from the initial vetting and providing a helpful summary of each candidate with their CV to managing communication and providing helpful resources for our family and nanny. We have had such a positive experience and have no hesitation in recommending Little Lovelies to families and nannies alike.

Jacqui and her team always go above and beyond in their service and professionalism. We could not recommend Little Lovelies high enough, every sitter we have had our 2 boys have loved!

Very smooth booking experience from start to finish. Prompt communication from the agency and nanny. Tess was lovely – the kids warmed to her instantly and when we got home the toys and kitchen were cleaned, which was a lovely surprise. Will definitely be booking through Little Lovelies if we need a nanny again!

Little Lovelies was fantastic to work with. We needed a nanny to join our family on a permanent basis. Jodie quickly found a fantastic nanny Daisy to look after our little one. The care taken with vetting the babysitters was really great, and the whole process was seamless. I'd definitely suggest using their services if you are looking for quality care. Neel and Pat.

After our permanent nanny unexpectedly didn't return from her overseas holiday, we were scrambling for a casual nanny to fill in our fluctuating work schedule. Jacqui was accommodating and came back to us with some good options. Sashi was a very experienced and flexible nanny, and the kids (2yo and 3.5yo) were immediately comfortable around her. We're happy customers – will return.

Little Lovelies is fantastic! I have used the service many times and every babysitter and nanny have been excellent. I am always very comfortable leaving my daughter and always impressed at how quickly Jacqui can find someone even with very little notice. A very happy customer.

We used Little Lovelies while on holiday in Sydney. Our sitter was on time, professional and very caring with our 5 year old. She even cleaned the kitchen, a nice surprise to return home to!

Little lovelies were brilliant. We had Jana look after our 6 week old and managed to go on a much needed date night as a result. I was petrified to leave our little one for the first time, but having a semi CV in my inbox and having Jana reach out beforehand really helped.
