The Children
Two children: a 20 month old boy and a 5 year old girl (ages as at the January 2027 start date). The older child starts school in 2027, so the first weeks of the role will fall in the school holidays with both children at
home. The regular school day routine described below begins once Term 1 starts.
The Role
A warm and busy family in Petersham is seeking a caring, energetic and engaging nanny to become an important part of their household team for at least 12 months. The nanny will work collaboratively with both parents, supporting the morning school routine and taking primary responsibility for the younger child’s care during the day, then caring for both children after school. The family is looking for someone who brings energy, creativity and new experiences to the toddler’s days while keeping a predictable and reassuring routine.
A typical school day may involve helping get the older child ready for school and walking her there, then spending the morning with the toddler: outdoor walks, park visits and active play, followed by lunch and
nap. Afternoons may include creative or sensory activities at home, or outings such as library rhyme time, music, Gymboree or other local activities. At around 3:00pm, a parent or the nanny collects the older child
from school, and the nanny cares for both children until 4:00pm.
The family would love a nanny who is proactive and happy to bring their own ideas and variety to the children’s days, while working closely with the parents on any significant decisions about their care.
Responsibilities
• Providing warm, attentive and nurturing care for the toddler, including meals, naps and daily routine

• Keeping the children safe at all times
• Preparing simple meals for the children and providing light child related household support when time allows
• Keeping open communication with the parents about the children’s wellbeing, routines and any changes

The family is looking for someone who is:
• Warm, bubbly and energetic

• A strong and open communicator
• Safety conscious, with the children’s safety always the priority
• Calm, fair and consistent in their approach
• Reliable, punctual and trustworthy
• Confident working as part of a busy household team and collaboratively with both parents
• Someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with children
Requirements
• 3+ years of professional experience caring for babies, toddlers and young children

• A childcare qualification is not essential but is highly regarded

• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Excellent references
• Non smoker
School Holidays
During school holidays both children are at home and the two child rate applies. School holiday arrangements, including guaranteed hours and periods when the family is travelling, will be discussed and
agreed in advance.
Family Values
This is a warm, busy family who place a high value on kindness, honesty, clear communication and the children’s safety and wellbeing. They value gentle, respectful and consistent caregiving with no raised
voices, with an emphasis on positive guidance and a largely screen free environment (except where a phone is needed to contact parents or in an emergency). Open communication is extremely important. The family would like their nanny to feel comfortable discussing the children’s wellbeing, behaviour, routines and any changes to plans or schedules. Reliability, punctuality, discretion and good judgement are highly valued, as are mutual respect, confidentiality, initiative and collaboration.
Additional Information
The family has enjoyed a long standing relationship with their current nanny and greatly values the trust, consistency and close bonds that develop through long term care. They are looking for someone who
would like to become a lasting part of the children’s lives.
